Experience life together
Lead Pastor
Warren & Jen Blackbeard
Growing up in South Africa, Warren dreamt for many years of planting a church and felt called to the United States. Three years prior to a trip visit, the Tampa area was laid on his heart. Upon visiting, he and his wife Jen felt the stirring was confirmed for Florida. Faithful to the call, God cast vision and the opportunity with Church Experience was born. Together with the support of their local church in Johannesburg, the door was opened for an R1 Visa to relocate their family to the USA. Shortly after the visa was granted, COVID happened, along with a travel ban to the United States, which meant immigrating during the uncertainty of a pandemic and waiting on and trusting in God’s perfect timing. Warren, Jennifer, their two boys, and their daughter are now excited to be in the Tampa area where they believe God has called them to make a big Kingdom impact in the greater Westchase/Oldsmar area! The Blackbeard family is passionate about helping more people experience a full life in Jesus Christ!

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect on my first visit?
We can't wait to meet you! Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early so you have time to park, check-in your kids, grab a coffee, and find a good seat! We strive to create a warm, welcoming environment and hope you feel right at home! Services last about an hour or so, and include worship music followed by a powerful message from the Bible! Services are generally upbeat with modern music and you’ll see people dressed casually, so just come as you are!
What should I wear?
Whatever's comfortable, but most dress casual. We care way more about you being here than what you're wearing!
Is there anything for my kids?
Yes! Kid Experience runs during each weekend worship service for kids birth through 5th grade. It's a safe, fun, age-appropriate environment where your kids will learn about Jesus and build friendships through activities, worship songs, creative teaching, and group discussion. We have a quick check-in area where you’ll register your family on your first visit, then briefly check-in on successive visits. Our goal is for your child to have a great time at church, make some positive friendships, and most of all grow closer to Jesus!
What are your beliefs?
Church Experience is a non-denominational Bible-teaching Christian church with beliefs firmly established on the Bible.
What translation of the Bible do you recommend?
There are many great English translations of the Bible, but in our CE weekend worship experiences we primarily use the New International Version (NIV) which is/has been the most widely used translation in English.
Who is the preacher at your church?
Church Experience is passionate about live, local preaching at each CE location. In order to stay connected as “one church” our Senior Pastor does preach through video to all CE locations about once a month at least for part of the message, while the majority of the preaching is in-person from our amazing local CE pastors. Each campus benefits from the same teaching series theme across the whole church, regardless of who is preaching that weekend.
You can learn more about our collective CE story and vision here.
What's the difference between your Senior Pastor and Lead Pastor?
Every CE campus has a Lead Pastor, but our whole church is led by our Senior Pastors, Brandon & Jennifer Bruce. A CE “Lead Pastor” is similar to a “Campus Pastor” (but also unique) from other multi-site churches. Church Experience has empowered our Lead Pastors at each campus to preach most of the time and make many leadership decisions at a local level. Each campus is not autonomous so the “Lead Pastors” do serve under the authority and accountability of Church Experience Senior Leadership (CE Board of Directors, Senior Pastors, & Senior Leadership Team). This combination of a pastor at the campus along with accountability outside the local campus allows lots of leadership decisions to be made locally, while also providing sufficient support, protection, and sustainability for the campus and CE as a united church. We believe this is a truly unique and beautiful model of ministry that allows CE to continually grow to reach more people in Jesus name without sacrificing the personal feel of church or the protection and quality for the people in the church!
How do I get connected when I'm ready?
We'd love to help you take your next step and get more involved with Church Experience! Stop by the Red Carpet after the service, fill out a Response Card, or Plan Your Visit ahead of time. From there, we can point you toward Life Groups, Serving Teams, our Growth Track, along with many other ways to grow in your relationship with God and His Church!
